AI: The Somnium Files – nirvanA Initiative details new game mechanics

We’re just over two months away from the sequel to AI: The Somnium Files that will change the fabric of video games as we know them (#PraiseUchikoshi), and Spike Chunsoft deigned to give us more details on how the game works in the investigative and somnium segments. More importantly, we see once again that we can ask for this guy’s name (whatever. Kintaro? Kagumi? Kaitlyn?):

In the investigation segments, the “AI-balls” of the protagonists Aiba and Tama have improved their functionality: “Virtual Reality” where visual effects are applied to an entire area, “Truth Reconstruction” which reproduces incidents as if it was TV drama, and a “Wink Psync” that can read minds. This is coupled with features from the latest game like heat signature reading and x-ray vision.

Meanwhile, in the somniums (the dreamlike spaces representing the characters’ psyches), players will again have six minutes to unravel any mental locks that separate them from the truth. The main addition here are aerial and underwater dream worlds that allow vertical movement in the dream space, adding more variety to the type of somnium the player can experience.

AI: The Somnium Files – nirvanA Initiative comes out on June 24th and will split all of our minds in two. I can’t wait to ask that guy his name again. Kenta? Kirin? Karine ?
