As SWTOR turns 10, fighting styles, character creation overhaul and content are all part of the legacy of the Sith expansion.

Star Wars: The Old Republic turns 10 this year, and BioWare and Electronic Arts are celebrating with another expansion this holiday season. Legacy of the Sith will see players uncover the truth behind Darth Malgus’ “ultimate plan” while leveling up and learning new ways of fighting.

The expansion will take players to the aquatic planet of Manaan, a location from the original Knights of the Old Republic game. The planet has been invaded by the Sith Empire, which intends to seize a medical resource known as Kolto. The result is a fight for control of the planet.

There is also a new flash point on a mountain top tomb on the planet Elom. Darth Malgus is here to collect ancient Sith relics. Another novelty is the operation taking place in a distant space research station. This facility, run by a Sith cult experimenting with Czerka technology, is rebuilding an ancient super-weapon. There will be three versions of the operation. The first two, Story and Veteran, will launch with version 7.0. The other will arrive in 2022.

The level cap will increase from five, to 80, but probably the biggest change coming to the game in general is the addition of fighting styles. This new system replaces advanced classes and will allow players to “independently choose a specific class story and combine it with skill sets from other associated technology or strength classes.” This effectively allows players to increase their “class” options from two to many. The new system also separates the choice of class story from gameplay. To accommodate all of these new choices, the dev team is also adding loads to facilitate change and implement feature-specific balance changes.

Players can look forward to another season of rewards as well. Season 2: Shadows of the Underworld features underworld syndicate-themed rewards as well as a new companion: Fen Zeil, a Duros Gunslinger.

All of this information was covered in the latest SWTOR stream on Twich (embedded below). For the most part, this was a fairly brief feed with a high level overview. During the steam, improvements to the player experience such as UI changes, updated character creator with new visuals, and content upgrade changes were mentioned. They actually didn’t offer any insight into any of this, they just mentioned that these were things that would happen.

The feed also offered a short timeline of things to come. This includes a Jedi Guardian test on the game’s PTS starting July 5. On July 12, players can look forward to new story content focused on the Mandalorians. There will also be streams.

If you’re wondering about the launch, all we know is that it will be free for subscribers and will take place during the holidays.

There is one more thing to note. During the flow, they dropped a code for decorating the Heta Kol fortress. Just go to and redeem the code A LOT of SWTOR.
