Is there anything more disappointing than a weak shotgun? Players already have to do almost everything in Call of Duty: The Vanguard get within shooting range of a shotgun. Unfortunately, they often find that when they finally get within range, the gun takes two to three shots to fire.
Fortunately, there is one and only shotgun that has the firepower to kill in one hit on shots to the body. The combat shotgun is so powerful that it can kill players with limb shots too! See how arguably the best midrange gun in Call of Duty: The Vanguard is built.
Operator
In the process of unlocking all operators, Padmavati should be one of the first available. This requires getting 200 kills with shotguns, any shotgun will do. Once unlocked, the Combat Rifle is his favorite weapon and players reap the rewards.
When she uses the combat shotgun, she generates additional experience for the pistol, and the pistol generates additional experience for her. Once both have been maximized, it doesn’t matter which operator is used, but it does help unlock several attachments that are vital for uploading.

Even the best unlocked starter weapons cannot compete with the Combat Rifle for more than one turn, as one turn is enough. Bullet ammo, when combined with accessories that increase damage and aim, make the combat shotgun feel like a shotgun.
This loadout sacrifices fire speed and recoil on each round. With such a slow shot, recoil becomes irrelevant as players will have ample time to line up their next shot. This is mid-range stopping power that even assault rifles cannot contend with.
Secondary weapon
It would have been nice to be able to pull out an M1 Bazooka while still getting the Ticket Please achievement, but that can wait for multiplayer. Since the combat shotgun is so fantastic at killing enemies at less than long range, it’s good to bring a support weapon.
The M1 Bazooka will blow killstreaks out of the sky, making room for close-range shotguns and SMGs that rely on stealth to get in close. Plus, if there’s particularly deadly gear out there, it’s nice to be able to ship it out before you blow yourself up.

Halfway up there is always a ton of grenades going off, so limiting that damage with Fortified will help the player survive explosions that would normally be fatal. High Alert saves lives, especially for midrange gamers who can’t watch their backs and sides all the time.
The tactician is quite important as firefights can quickly turn into dead ends, with teams just shooting each other and hoping for good luck. Tactical weapons break the deadlock by providing debuffs and screens that help the whole team.
Deadly location
Although this is a “lethal” location, Thermite should be used in a non-lethal manner. Think about the number of campaign missions enemies have crawled in from all directions. Being able to cut one direction keeps the combat focused in favor of the combat rifle.
The Combat Shogun negated most of the deadly slot items, as it’s a one-hit kill that doesn’t benefit from damage over time or explosions. But Thermite can cut an area for a while, preventing enemies from getting into a vantage point.
Tactical location
Thanks to the Tactician Perk, the Tactical Slot will refresh every thirty seconds, so make good use of it. Different versions of the game have different items that are unlocked, but everyone will have early access to the Smoke Grenade.
It is a game breaker, allowing players to gain a very literal visual advantage against their opponents. While the Smoke Grenade provides cover, be aggressive and get quick kills, then step back to cover when it starts to fade.

Again, thanks to the weapon’s speed, this loadout doesn’t require a fancy kill streak to do the dirty work for the player. Intel is the cheapest killstreak, requiring only three kills, but its benefits are extensive, labeling enemies all around.
Care Package is a community favorite, with a 92% chance of earning a reward equal to or greater than the four kills needed to call it. Emergency Airdrop makes the math even more on the player side by giving away some assorted killstreak rewards that will help the whole team.
Field upgrade
One of the best perks in the game for any mid-range fighter, the deployable cover offers a nice shield to peek in and shoot. The fast cooldown means almost any established Skirmish will have one ready.
Due to the Combat Shogun’s slow rate of fire, it is recommended to exit, shoot, duck and repeat. This means that players will be fully immune to frontal fire 50% of the time and primarily immune the remaining 50%. It’s a must-have terrain upgrade for players who will find themselves in open combat a lot.
