HARRY MAGUIRE was cheered as Manchester United fans rallied behind their captain.

The United skipper received a positive reaction from home fans before his former club Leicester traveled to Old Trafford.

It comes the same week Maguire was booed by England fans before the Ivory Coast were beaten 3-0 at Wembley.

His manager Ralf Rangnick had tried to urge the United faithful to rally behind their captain – and it appears his words were heeded.

Rangnick said: “Harry has been a very valuable player for the team and the club as captain.

“I didn’t understand what happened at Wembley, it won’t happen in our stadium with the Red Army.

“He’s played well for Manchester United and England for the past two years.

“Having that happen in an international match is unusual, but I’m sure it won’t happen at our stadium.”

England’s boo-boys were criticized by Maguire’s fellow footballers then and now.

United team-mate Nemanja Matic told Sky Sports: “Harry Maguire didn’t serve that.

“I think he played very well for England in the last Euros. He was fantastic, so I don’t understand them.

“We have to be honest and say that almost every player has to do more, have to give more.

“We have to do better as a team here. There are no more excuses. “The last nine games, we have to win seven or eight.”
