Pharrel and Travis Scott
Neither Pharrell nor Travis Scott are from Atlanta (SMH).
It feels like forever since Travis Scott’s tragic incident at ASTROWORLD happened. He hasn’t really lain low since, but he certainly hasn’t dropped a whole lot of music either. Just a few days ago, it was announced that Travis would be performing at Rolling Loud: Los Angeles in a few weeks. What this tells me is that he is ready to make his official return to the music scene. What also tells me is that he decided to release his first semi-solo single in a while today: “Down In Atlanta” with Pharrell.
“Down In Atlanta” features one of the most interesting beats you’d hear in 2022. It gives me Michael Jackson vibes, “Leave Me Alone.” It certainly doesn’t sound like shit you’d hear from an Atlanta artist. No need to worry, you get some very typical Travis Scott melodic raps in the song. What I find quite dope about his performance is the way he pays homage to the southern city by evoking some of their legends. I also love how he shows no fear by looking like a dude who’s been gobbled up by a computer with low disk space.
Give Travis Scott and Pharrell Williams’ “Down In Atlanta” a shot below.
