Remy Ma aims to take fight rap to new heights by hosting the first-ever all-female fight rap tournament.
On Tuesday, Oct. 11, the Bronx rapper announced the event, “The Tournament,” in a music video on her Instagram account. “All-female, the first in the history of fight rap,” she explains. “All female dogs can rap. It will be three rounds. Each round lasts 90 seconds. So it’s a minute and a half with a maximum of two minutes.
In legend, Remy names the 16 candidates competing in the royal rap battle scheduled for the end of the month. “$25,000 is up for grabs!! The tournament is Remy’s second rap sparring event following Chrome 23’s first rap sparring contest, “Queens Get the Money,” in February. The battle was co-hosted by Remy’s husband, Papoose, and Fat Joe.
REVOLT previously reported that Remy Ma founded Chrome 23 to shine a light on women rising up in the male-dominated fight rap scene. In Remy’s opinion, the league supports women who are pushing battle rap culture to new heights. “I want all the women who have ever put their blood and sweat and tears into this, who have been doing this for years, to have a chance to really make some decent money,” she said.
