Tottenham boss Antonio Conte believes it will be “impossible” for his side to win the remaining five games.
Striker Harry Kane said earlier this week that his side must have a 100 per cent record by the end of the season if they are to propel Arsenal to Champions League qualification.
Spurs would be guaranteed a place in the top four if they take 15 points, beating their north London rivals along the way, but Conte knows how difficult it is going to be, especially as they also have to travel to Liverpool next weekend.
“I think if you win five games you probably get a Champions League place,” he said, ahead of Leicester’s visit on Sunday.
“But in England it’s impossible to think that every game you’re going to win. You won’t.
“You have to go step by step, and game by game. On Sunday we will face Leicester and you know very well that they have a very good team. It will definitely be a tough game.
“We have to go step by step and understand that this is a great opportunity for us and we have to face every game with great enthusiasm, great passion and with joy.
“Also to share this joy with our fans because we are fighting for something special. For this reason, this type of situation must give us a lot of energy for the last games of the season.
Spurs have stumbled in their last two games against teams that sat behind the ball and didn’t leave their first three spaces to attack, resulting in no shots on target.
Conte is determined to keep his 3-4-3 formation, despite injuries to full-backs Matt Doherty and Sergio Reguilon.
He said: “Now we have Emerson (Royal) and (Ryan) Sessegnon available. I think during the match (Dejan) Kulusevski can play in this position.
“I think the best solution is not to change what we know, what we have been doing for seven months.
“With this training, we know how to play, this training gives us great satisfaction. But if something else happens – I hope not – by the end, I am of course obliged to change something and find another solution.
